Medical Secretary
Blackheath Standard Surgery

A friendly, busy practice, whose ethos is to provide effective, high quality healthcare to their 7,700 patients in a caring, supportive and helpful manner, Blackheath Standard Surgery is located in a pleasant part of Blackheath, South East London, and forms part of the Blackheath and Charlton Primary Care Network. The practice is led by 2 GP Partners, with a multidisciplinary team consisting of 2 Salaried GPs, 3 Practice Nurses, a Nurse Associate, 2 Healthcare Assistants, Clinical Pharmacist, Pharmacy Technician, Physiotherapists, Social Prescribing Link Worker, Care Coordinator and a Mental Health Practitioner, who are further supported by an experienced reception/administrative team.
The practice is looking to recruit a dedicated and detail-orientated Medical Secretary to provide a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties, and to provide administrative support to the practice’s multidisciplinary team. This position requires excellent organisational skills, a strong understanding of office procedures, and the ability to communicate effectively with both patients and healthcare professionals. This is a part-time position working 15 hours per week across 3 days - Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
Main duties will include typing letters, reports and any associated documentation - an understanding of the Lexacom digital dictation system would be beneficial, processing hospital/community patient referrals via the electronic referral system (ERS) and maintaining an accurate referrals database, processing requests for information i.e. SARs, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms. The post holder will also be responsible for actioning all incoming emails into the practice’s main email account, scanning and attaching of patient-related documentation to patients’ healthcare records, managing administrative queries and recording the minutes of meetings. They may also be asked to partake in audits, as directed by the Practice Manager.

Receptionist
Blackheath Standard Surgery

Our colleagues at Blackheath Standard Surgery are looking to recruit a motivated and reliable part-time Receptionist to join their welcoming and supportive team. Providing front desk reception cover, the post holder will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and have an empathetic and caring nature, as they will be responsible for greeting patients and visitors to the practice. The role will also include booking appointments and signposting patients to the relevant services, answering incoming calls, responding to queries, replying to email correspondence and assisting with general administrative tasks.

This position is for 22 hours per week, working across 4 days, Monday to Friday on a seven week rolling rota between 7.00am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 7.00pm. Saturday mornings also form part of the practice’s enhanced access service, with the option to work these sessions on a rotation basis. Flexibility is essential, as shift patterns may vary, particularly during periods of sickness and annual leave, where cover for colleagues is required. A team player, the successful candidate will be an efficient multi-tasker, with the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Ideally, they would prefer someone who has GP experience or experience of working in a medical environment. However, they would still welcome applications from someone who has worked in a similar reception role, and is willing and quick to learn.

Clinical Pharmacist

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and experienced Clinical Pharmacist to join a dynamic and forward-thinking team. The successful candidate will work alongside pharmacists and technician colleagues within a larger multi-disciplinary team, providing clinical pharmacy support to the practice and addressing prescription and medication queries. By fostering integration between community and hospital pharmacy services, the Clinical Pharmacist will play a crucial role in improving patient outcomes, optimising medicines use, and managing patients with long term conditions.
The post holder will provide patient-facing services within the practice, handling both simple and complex inquiries from patients, carers, and third parties regarding medications and long term conditions. They will conduct medication reviews, including annual assessments, and monitor patients with complex polypharmacy, ensuring that systems are in place to recall patients as needed and that risks associated with ongoing drug treatments are managed effectively. As a key member of the team, they will support GPs and practice nurses with long term condition management, prescribing, and medication optimisation, while also managing their own caseload of complex patients.

Practice Nurse
Eltham Medical Practice

Eltham Medical Practice are looking to appoint a Practice Nurse to join their supportive and friendly team.
A large and well-established training practice, they operate over three sites with a list size of nearly 26,000 patients. Their large clinical team consists of 12 Doctors, 4 ANPs, a Paramedic (covering home visits), 3 Nurses, 4 Pharmacists, Physiotherapists and 2 HCAs, and is led by GP Partners who are keenly involved in teaching and training.
The position requires 20 to 30 hours over a working week and the salary is negotiable dependant on experience. Duties will include but are not exclusive to cervical cytology, immunisations, vaccinations, wound care and knowledge of QOF procedures.

Receptionist
Waverley PMS

The Waverley Practice is located in Greenwich, South East London and operates across 2 sites in Plumstead and Welling, providing general medical services to its 4,400 patients. They are currently looking to recruit a confident and enthusiastic part-time Receptionist to join their small, hardworking and friendly practice team.
As a member of the front of house reception team, the successful candidate will be required to provide effective and efficient reception skills, which will include meeting/greeting patients and visitors to the surgery, booking appointments, answering telephone calls and dealing with queries, scanning and filing documents, actioning prescription requests, and providing administrative/clerical support to the clinical and management teams to ensure the smooth running of the surgery. The role requires working 16-20 hours per week over 5 days, between 8.00am - 6.30pm to a set rota, across both sites. There is also the option to work additional hours on a Saturday as part of the PCN’s enhanced access service. Flexibility is essential as sickness, annual leave and extended hours cover for colleagues is required.
Applicants should have previous customer service experience, preferably having worked in a GP surgery, with the ability to multi task and work under pressure in an extremely busy reception environment. A good team player, excellent communication and IT skills are essential. A working knowledge of both EMIS and Docman clinical systems is also preferred, however training will be provided.
